It has been a busy week or two for me. From finishing up projects for clients to working on and presenting classes at the University of Scouting in the Greater Alabama Council. There was still some great content shared during this time. Here are a few that stood out.

If you are working on your logo and other elements to brand your company, you should be working from a style that was developed. Spending a little extra money no style guide will help as you move forward. Read “Why your brand needs a style guide, and how to create one” to learn more.

More great posts from around the web and a photo that may look very familiar to you.

I love the symmetry that Wes Anderson uses in all his films such as Moonrise Kingdom and his latest, The Grand Budapest Hotel. The article “5 Things UX And UI Designers Could Learn From Wes Anderson” is a great resource for anyone who is trying to keep the look and feel of a project consistent.

Do we really need this? “How to Write Better Emails.” Yes, yes we do. It’s just the basics but a little more attention to what, and how, we write will help you take control of your email.

Of course the title drew me in. Next time you need that perfect shade of grey, swing by the site “Fifty Shades Of Grey For Web Designers.”

This weeks photo comes from iStockPhoto.com. In an effort to market the movie Unfinished Business starring Vince Vaughan, a set of stock images have been produced. These look just like any of the corporate images you find (and use) on stock photo sites. This is really great.

This was a good week in terms of the quality of posts I read and shared. It’s amazing the kind of things you can learn online. I’m only posting the best ones that are more business related. Here are a few.

Is it easy for you to say no? Can you do it without coming across as a jerk? I hate saying no to people and for a long time it got in the way of my personal life. Over the year I have found that you can say no and that you can do it without being a jerk. If you struggle with saying no, the tips in the article “A Scientific Guide to Saying “No”: How to Avoid Temptation and Distraction“ should help you.

You should keep your LinkedIn profile updated, especially if you may be looking for a new job or clients in the future. If you haven’t given your LinkedIn profile much thought, you should read the “9 Steps to Creating A Powerful LinkedIn Profile.”

Your company is probably using social media and if you are a control freak then you are probably trying to do it all yourself. “Turn Employees Into Advocates [Social Media Tip]” of your organization and get more out of social media.

And for those of you who are leaders of paid employees or volunteers, here is some advice from one of our greatest generals.

Here are more of my favorite posts from the past week. Since I have been doing this, I have really found some great posts and tools that have helped me in my job. Hopefully they will help you as well. Here are a few of those posts stood out from last week.

LinkedIn is the social media channel that I like to use to connect with others. The people on there are interested in business and connecting with others. That is one of the reasons why you should have a well thought out and crafted profile. To help you event more, here are “6 Rookie Mistakes You Might Be Making on LinkedIn.”

I have been working on my taxes and getting the files ready to go to my CPA. I went to his website and there was a post which answered a question I ask every year about this time. “Keep this, not that – which documents should you file and which should you toss after tax season.” will help you get you act together and help you declutter at the same time.

I can’t finish this post without a list of tools. Here are “10 Tools for Collecting Your Design Inspiration.” There are some good ones but Evernote is still my favorite in this group.
