Flawed Good People
Playwright Hubert Grissom came to me for help producing a book and publishing it on Amazon.com. He had a series of civil rights-era plays that he wanted to publish as one book that can be used as a resource for those interested in these plays.
When designing the front cover, I used the red from the Alabama state flag as the background cover and gave it some texture. The plays in the book feature good people who are flawed in one way or another. Two of the plays, “Winston Drive Big Jim” and “Jamelle, Alabama’s Teenage First Lady,” feature former Alabama Governor “Big Jim” Folsom. He was a good man, and he had his own flaws. I used a picture of Big Jim as my stand-in for all the flawed people. I didn’t want to show his whole face, and having just his eyes above the bottom of the book makes him look a little sheepish, and that he doesn’t want to be completely seen.
If you are interested in purchasing the book, you can find it at Amazon.com. If you are a theatre and are interested in featuring one of these plays, watch the following video to find out how to receive a complimentary copy of Flawed Good People.
